WSIB Services for Psychological Injuries ~ limited to current WSIB clients, only ~
You’ve been through a lot at work, and you’re just not feeling better on your own.
Perhaps you’ve been told by WSIB (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board), to find a psychologist for an assessment, or psychotherapy care has been recommended. If you’re ready to put the work needed into your workplace injury recovery, and you have a psychological injury that is not a physical injury, we can help.
Limestone Clinic helps injured workers recover, reconnect with their lives, and when appropriate, return to work. Our services are offered through WSIB's Community Mental Health Program (CMHP) and our therapists are experienced in working with WSIB to provide mental health assessments and treatment for injured workers.
We’re the right fit for you if:
You have a registered WSIB claim (you have been assigned a claim number) and you have experienced a significant psychological reaction after a workplace incident or cumulative incidents, such as traumatic mental stress, chronic mental stress, or first-responder post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Your workplace injury has not been classified by WSIB as a physical injury.**
** Despite our best efforts, we have learned that our ability to care for those with physical injuries has been compromised by intractable administrative problems at WSIB's end. These problems have significantly impacted the standard of excellence that we require in order to feel that participation in the physical injury rehabilitation of a WSIB claimant is something we can do ethically.
Limestone Clinic & WSIB
The first step to using our WSIB services is to read the Worker’s Guide to Registering a Mental Health Claim from the Community Mental Health Program (CMHP).
Next, contact WSIB and register your claim if you haven't already done so. Once you have received your claim number, give us a call to let us know you are interested in working with us. Please be prepared to give us your contact information, date of birth, and claim number.
1. First, Limestone Clinic will contact WSIB to request authorization to see you as a client. If WSIB has not yet adjudicated your claim, or if they are waiting for medical documentation or paperwork from your workplace, there may be a waiting period.
2. Once authorization is received, we will complete the first part of CMHP—arranging your assessment. During this step, you will receive questionnaires to complete online before your appointment.
3. Once your online questionnaires have been completed, your assessment appointment will be scheduled and conducted. You may need to return to the office for more than one appointment, depending on your circumstances. Once the assessment is completed, you will receive a copy of the assessment and a copy will be sent to WSIB.
4. If therapy has been recommended in your assessment, we have a number of therapy programs available including talk therapy, online therapy, and walk-in therapy appointments. If one of our therapists is a match for you and your needs, we will request authorization to perform therapy services from WSIB. If we do not have a therapist available, we contact WSIB to make recommendations on your care. Once authorization is received, you will be notified and your therapy plan will begin.
We do not charge injured workers for therapy services provided through the CMHP program. Missed appointments, however, are subject to a fee payable by the worker.
