Convenient Online Counselling & Psychotherapy for Ontario Clients

Online psychotherapy makes it possible to access high-quality mental health care without adding more logistics to your life. Whether you’re balancing work, health concerns, family responsibilities, or simply prefer the comfort of home, our Ontario-licensed clinicians provide thoughtful, evidence-based therapy online.

Sessions are offered via secure video appointments, with the same care, structure, and professional standards as in-person therapy.

Real therapy. Real clinicians.
Pants optional (but emotional honesty required).

Does Online Psychotherapy Actually Work?

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: it depends on the therapist, not the screen.

I’ve provided (and received) most of my therapy over video since the pandemic — and even before — and I wouldn’t still be doing it if it didn’t work. What matters isn’t the room you’re sitting in. It’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the skill of the clinician, and whether the work stays purposeful instead of drifting.

Online therapy doesn’t work because of the screen. It works because good therapy is good therapy — whether we’re in the same room or not.

We focus on fit, clear goals, and regularly checking whether therapy is actually helping — so the work stays purposeful and doesn’t drift over time.

If you’re showing up honestly, and your therapist knows what they’re doing, the screen isn’t a limiting factor.

Who Online Therapy Is a Good Fit For

Online psychotherapy can be a strong option if several of the following resonate with you:

  • You’re looking for professional support to help you through a difficult period

  • You don’t feel like yourself and things aren’t shifting on their own

  • Your moods, behaviours, or stress levels feel persistent despite your efforts

  • You’re open to reflection, learning, and making meaningful changes

  • You have access to a private space and reliable internet for video sessions

  • You’re comfortable attending sessions from home — pants optional, professionalism required 😉

Like all effective therapy, online work is about fit, readiness, and commitment — not convenience alone.

FAQs About Online Psychotherapy in Ontario

What should I expect in online counselling?

After your Discovery Call to get oriented, you’ll start with a free consultation or a first full-length session to help determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

If you decide to continue, your therapist will take time to understand what’s been going on for you, what patterns may be keeping things stuck, and what you’d like to change. Together, you’ll develop a clear focus for your work and revisit it regularly to make sure therapy is actually helping.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Research shows that for many concerns, online psychotherapy can be just as effective as in-person work when it’s provided by a trained clinician and there is a strong therapeutic relationship. What matters most is the quality of the therapy, not the format. Our therapists regularly check in to make sure therapy is helping and to adjust the approach, as needed.

Is online therapy secure and confidential?

Yes. Our sessions take place over secure, privacy-compliant video platforms. Confidentiality and professional standards are the same as they are for in-person psychotherapy, and we take client privacy seriously.

What do I need in order to do online therapy?

You’ll need a private space where you feel comfortable talking, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone. If you’re unsure whether your setup will work, we can help you figure that out.
